KEEM
KEEM is a collaboration between artists Kate Elliott and Emma McGarry. It was established in 2011, as an exploration into the nature of collaboration. Through methodology, ongoing discussion and debate, KEEM produces work which continuously questions subjectivity, materiality and identity.

A.S.S.E.M.B.L.Y at Tate Modern
Emma McGarry has been working as Lead Artist for the Special Schools Preview of the New Tate Modern which took place on June 16th 2016.
As part of the programme she invited Kate Elliott, as one of eight artists, to collaborate on an exchange, the outcome being a series of new learning resources, for use on the day and from now onwards.
For their Tate exchange Kate Eliott and Emma McGarry (KEEM) compiled a list of words that connect their two practices. They then individually compiled a 'mix-tape', with each song relating to one of the words, before sharing them with one another. From this exchange, the following resource was created: Y IS FOR YOU (AND ME) CAN HAVE IT ALL.
Devised by Emma, the Special Schools Preview
- known as A.S.S.E.M.B.L.Y - included a manifesto proposing YOU CAN HAVE
IT ALL. On the morning of June 16th 2016 the doors to the new Tate
Modern were thrown open to 3000 school students from across the
UK as its first public visitors.
On arrival at Tate, groups of school students were given one of the eight artist learning resources, each of which relates to a specific collection of works within the building. KEEM's resource - Y IS FOR YOU (AND ME) CAN HAVE IT ALL - connects to the Louise Bourgeois Artist Room in the new Switch House extension of the Tate Modern, where groups of students created their own 'mix-tapes', in response to chosen Louise Bourgeois artworks.
Alongside the resources, special events and activities ran throughout the day, and the soundtrack of KEEM's above exchange was shared through a silent disco.

The Swap
Curator Stuart Pilkington recently approached us to ask if we would take part in his latest photography project The Swap. Here are our portraits.
The Swap is a very simple concept. On two separate days two photographers photograph each other and create two portraits. On day one, person one is the photographer and the other is the subject and on day two they swap roles so that the photographer becomes the subject and visa versa.
The idea of being in front of the camera is abhorent to a lot of photographers but for those who are willing to take part it is an opportunity to create something collaboratively with another photographer.

It went out of commission almost one hundred year's later, in 1988, during a period of public convenience closures in the local surrounding area. Now a listed building it retains many of it's original features, including marble urinals, a ventilator shaft, and attendant's booth.

The Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, one of the largest and most ambitious projects in the field of contemporary art, combines the creative initiatives of artists of the new generation from Russia and abroad.
For this fourth edition of the Biennale artistic director David Elliott has chosen the title A Time for Dreams in acknowledgement of the chronic precariousness of our own times and the urgent need for the dreams and visions of younger and future generations to break the barrier of ‘things as they are’ to make things better.
The main project of the Biennale in 2014 will be presented in the Museum of Moscow. The educational programs of the Biennale will also be organized in collaboration with the museum.
